Porcupine Encounter

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime close encounter with one of the most unique creatures in the animal kingdom - the Cape Porcupine. 

Led by our expert carnivore keepers, this unforgettable encounter gives you the rare opportunity to get up close and personal with this incredible species. You'll have the chance to hand-feed one of our Cape Porcupine, as well as learn about the unique personalities of the individuals that call Hamilton Zoo home, as will as their behaviours, training and the challenges they face in the wild.

The Animal Encounter lasts approximately 20 minutes overall with a maximum of 4 people per group. You’ll be in close proximity to the animal for approximately 15 minutes. Every Animal Encounter is unique and the amount of interaction will be led by the animals themselves to ensure their welfare.

Standard Hamilton Zoo entry fee applies in addition to the price of the Animal Encounter.

Spaces are limited, booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Exclusive Animal Encounters are also available, please contact Hamilton Zoo directly to enquire.

All participants must be over the age of 8 years old. Children 8-15 years of age must have an accompanying adult (booked and paid) with them on the encounter. There must be at least one adult per every three children.
